Following the positive reception of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila,’ Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh are reuniting for a new cinematic venture. The film is expected to be a moving portrayal of love and longing, with a release planned for Baisakhi 2026. Production is scheduled to commence in August 2025.
The film will star Diljit Dosanjh, alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. The project reunites A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali.
Imtiaz Ali chose a poem by Momin to introduce the film, quoting, “’Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’).”
The story is about a boy and a girl, and also a nation. The director explained, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. We hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you.”
Also, Imtiaz Ali will collaborate with Netflix on ‘O Saathi Re,’ starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary and Arjun Rampal. The makers described it as “an ode to the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times.”
