After a remarkable 16-year journey from its initial signing to its eventual release, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highly anticipated film ‘The Goat Life’ has become available on Netflix. The desert survival drama, helmed by director Blessy, unfortunately failed to make a significant impact at the box office, leading to its classification as a commercial failure.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, the lead actor and a key figure behind the film, shared that his commitment to ‘The Goat Life’ dates back to 2008-2009. He characterized the film as a constant companion throughout his evolving career over the past 16 years, highlighting the extraordinary patience and perseverance required for its completion.
The movie’s narrative, set against the backdrop of desert survival, captivated audiences with its premise, as evidenced by its respectable IMDb rating of 7.1. However, this critical appreciation did not translate into box office success during its theatrical run. The film’s worldwide gross earnings reportedly stand at Rs 157.35 crore, with Rs 85.01 crore from India and Rs 59.5 crore from overseas markets.
Now, ‘The Goat Life’ is accessible to a global audience via Netflix, offering a platform for the film to be discovered and appreciated by more viewers. This shift to streaming provides a new avenue for the film’s narrative to reach its intended audience.
In terms of his career, Prithviraj Sukumaran has recently been part of ‘Sarzameen’ and is set to feature in ‘Salaar 2’. He also directed the successful film ‘Lucifer’.
