Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has premiered in theaters. The film focuses on the subject of specially-abled children, with Aamir Khan playing the role of a basketball coach. The film is directed by RS Prasanna and also features Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten new actors portraying specially-abled characters. The film is adapted from the Spanish film Campeones.
The film is receiving positive reviews, despite the level of advance bookings. Initial estimates suggest a first-day collection of Rs 9–10 crore, potentially exceeding Rs 10 crore based on the evening and night show performances.
Industry experts believe the film will have a strong weekend, and could earn Rs 40–45 crore in its first three days.
Aamir Khan is reported to have declined a substantial offer of Rs 120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for the film’s OTT rights. This underlines the significance of the theatrical success of Sitaare Zameen Par for the overall financial outcome of the film.
Khan’s previous venture, Laal Singh Chaddha, managed a lifetime collection of Rs 58.73 crore.
