Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated action thriller, ‘Dhurandhar,’ has premiered to phenomenal box office success, recording his highest-ever opening day collection. Released on December 5th, the film has surpassed industry expectations and delivered a powerful start, signaling a major hit for the actor and the production team.
Data from industry trackers indicates that ‘Dhurandhar’ garnered an impressive ₹27 crore on its opening day. This substantial figure not only establishes a new personal record for Ranveer Singh but also eclipses the opening day earnings of previous hits like ‘Saiyaara,’ which earned ₹21.50 crore. The film saw a solid audience turnout throughout the day, with an overall occupancy of 33.81% in the Hindi market. The response gained momentum significantly from the morning shows (15.49% occupancy) to the night shows, which registered close to 60% occupancy, pointing to strong positive word-of-mouth.
This opening day triumph significantly outperformed earlier trade predictions, which had forecasted collections in the ₹15–18 crore bracket. ‘Dhurandhar’ has thus made a grand statement at the box office. It stands as Ranveer Singh’s biggest opener, surpassing the opening day figures of ‘Padmaavat’ (₹24 crore) and ‘Simmba’ (₹20.72 crore).
The film also holds the distinction of being the second-highest opener of the year, following ‘Chhaava.’ Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ features Ranveer Singh in a lead role within a compelling ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The narrative, a tense spy thriller involving infiltration of a terror network, has captivated audiences, driving strong ticket sales. As the film continues its successful theatrical run, speculation about its digital release is also on the rise, with Netflix reportedly being the chosen platform for a potential premiere around January 30, 2026, pending official confirmation.
