Both films, highly anticipated by audiences, achieved impressive numbers during their opening weekend, establishing themselves as two of the year’s biggest releases. However, as the weekdays began, both movies showed a decline in their collections.
‘War 2,’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, opened strongly with Rs 52 crore on Thursday. The film continued to perform well on Friday, earning Rs 57.35 crore. However, the weekend saw a dip with Rs 33.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 32.15 crore on Sunday. A substantial drop was observed on Monday, with early estimates indicating only Rs 8.50 crore. Even with this decline, ‘War 2’ has accumulated a total of Rs 183.25 crore in its first five days.
The film’s cast includes Hrithik Roshan reprising his role and NTR Jr. joining the franchise.
‘Coolie,’ starring Rajinikanth, also had a strong opening, earning Rs 65 crore on its first day. Friday’s collection was Rs 54.75 crore. The film earned Rs 35.25 crore on Sunday. However, Monday witnessed a significant drop, with early estimates reporting Rs 12 crore. Overall, ‘Coolie’ has amassed Rs 206.50 crore in its first five days.
The plot revolves around Deva, a former gold smuggler, seeking to revive his old gang using stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches. The cast features Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat, with Aamir Khan making a cameo. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
