An incident of gunfire at the Bareilly residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani has left her family shaken. Two individuals on a motorcycle carried out the attack on Friday morning. No one was hurt. The incident is believed to be related to allegations that Disha’s sister, Khushboo Patani, formerly of the Indian Army, offended religious figures Saint Premanand Ji Maharaj and storyteller Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. Gangster Rohit Godara has claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.
Disha and Khushboo’s father, Jagdish Patani, has dismissed the accusations and provided his account of the events. During an interview with TV9, Jagdish revealed he was almost killed when the assailants pointed a gun at him. He survived the encounter.
Jagdish explained that he was present at home when the firing started. The family’s dogs alerted him to the presence of strangers. When he opened the door, two people were standing there. He asked who they were, and they aimed a gun at him. He quickly hid behind a wall. He suspects they used a foreign pistol. Approximately 10 to 12 shots were fired before the attackers fled the scene.
Regarding the Godara gang’s claim of responsibility, Jagdish stated he would wait for the police’s investigation to conclude before commenting, as anyone can make claims in the media. When questioned about the alleged disrespect shown towards the saints, Jagdish said that Khushboo had merely responded to comments made by Aniruddhacharya about women, which he believes is being used to tarnish their image.
Jagdish stated the police are providing excellent support and cooperation. He said they were not easily intimidated, referencing their experience in the police force and his daughter’s time in the army. He appealed to Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to prevent future incidents and to prosecute the perpetrators.
