Aryan Khan’s entry into the world of filmmaking with the Netflix series ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ has generated significant discussion. As the son of Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan’s project has already garnered attention, in part due to speculation about its handling of a past drug case involving the creator. Aryan was previously arrested in relation to the case, and later was cleared of all charges.
It is speculated that the series makes a humorous reference to Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer who was involved in the arrest of Aryan. The reference has caused the viewers to share their reactions online.
The ensemble cast includes Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, and Vijayant Kohli, with Rajat Bedi and Gautami Kapoor making guest appearances. In addition, a number of Bollywood stars will appear in cameo roles including Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, Aamir Khan, SS Rajamouli, Karan Johar, Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh, and potentially others.
The narrative of ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ unfolds with Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya) as the new star of Bollywood. Bobby Deol is featured as a major figure in Hindi cinema, and Aasmaan’s character will be romantically involved with the character’s daughter. The storyline examines the complexities of navigating the film industry when faced with personal and professional challenges.
Aryan Khan, when talking about the project, explained, “With The Ba***ds of Bollywood, I wanted to build a world that feels alive, a mix of glitz and grit, where ambition shines, egos clash, and nothing is ever as it seems. In Netflix, we found a partner who shared our creative vision—helping us tell the story exactly how it needed to be told, raw, stylised, and something the world has never experienced before.”
‘The Bads of Bollywood’ is produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, with Bonnie Jain and Akshat Verma serving as executive producers. Aryan Khan created and directed the show, with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan as co-creators and writers.
