The pairing of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif is usually a guarantee for box office success, with their collaborations often drawing large audiences. However, ‘De Dana Dan’ was a rare exception, failing to meet its financial goals. This action-comedy could not achieve the desired results, despite featuring a star-studded cast including Sunil Shetty.
Previously, the stars have delivered hits like ‘Sooryavanshi,’ ‘Welcome,’ ‘Namastey London,’ ‘Singh Is Kinng,’ and ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.’ ‘De Dana Dan’ did not reach the same heights. The film was released on November 27, 2009. It starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, and Sunil Shetty, and the supporting cast featured Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Samara Reddy, and Rajpal Yadav.
The film, directed by Priyadarshan, had a production budget of 60 crore rupees. Unfortunately, the film’s domestic collection in India was only 48 crore rupees. Akshay Kumar has multiple films in the pipeline. He already has three releases this year. ‘Jolly LLB 3,’ starring Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla, is scheduled to hit theaters on September 19th. He is also working on Priyadarshan’s new movie ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
