Important information has been released concerning the film ‘Abir Gulal,’ starring Vaani Kapoor and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The movie’s release in India was halted after the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir. This film was meant to mark Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood after a nine-year absence. Subsequently, Indian film industry doors closed for Pakistani actors. Originally scheduled for May 9, 2025, the release was delayed. However, a recent report indicates plans for a global release this month.
Following the Pahalgam attack, the future of ‘Abir Gulal’ was uncertain. But according to a report on Biz Asia Live, the film is ready to be released, possibly in August. This plan utilizes the same successful strategy as Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaar Ji 3.’
According to new information, ‘Abir Gulal’ is set to premiere in theaters worldwide on August 29. Furthermore, the film’s name will be updated to ‘Aabeer Gulaal.’ Given the sentiment towards Pakistani actors, the chance of an Indian release is slim. Therefore, the strategy focuses on releasing the film outside India. The same approach was used for ‘Sardaar Ji 3,’ which was not released in India due to the presence of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, but it performed very well globally, setting records in Pakistan.
Additionally, the Punjabi movie ‘Chal Mera Putt 4’ was also released outside India, and it did well commercially. The success of this approach for ‘Abir Gulal’ remains to be seen. Before the Pahalgam attack, the promotional campaign for Vaani Kapoor’s film was in progress, and there was excitement surrounding Fawad Khan’s comeback. The attack, however, changed the situation. Two days after the attack, the audio company Saregama removed the film’s songs, and the release was postponed. Further details about the report’s accuracy and the specific international release plans are still unclear.
