The release date for the Hindi film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, has been confirmed for June 20, 2025. Pre-bookings are now open. Genelia Deshmukh shared the announcement on social media, creating excitement among fans.
A video posted by Zee Music Company on Instagram features Genelia discussing the film. The caption reads: “Sitaare sirf zameen par nahi, screen par bhi chamkenge! Advance bookings are OPEN! Your date with Sitaare is waiting.”
The movie, which is expected to be a spiritual follow-up to ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ promises to be a comedy filled with love, laughter and joy, which is displayed in the trailer.
Following some reported delays, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Aamir Khan reportedly disagreed with some modifications suggested by the CBFC’s Examining Committee. Consequently, the Revising Committee (RC), headed by Vaman Kendre, reviewed the film again on June 16.
As a result of the review, the Revising Committee made several changes, including replacing “business woman” with “business person,” changing a reference to Michael Jackson to “Lovebirds,” deleting an image of the word “Kamal,” adding a new voiceover disclaimer while removing an old one, and incorporating a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the opening disclaimer.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and introduces ten new faces: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film is directed by R. S. Prasanna, known for directing the hit film, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.’ This is one of the largest collaborative efforts in his career.
Alongside Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, the film features new talents. Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote the lyrics and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the music. Divy Nidhi Sharma is the screenplay writer.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with B. Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka also credited as producers.
The film will be in theaters beginning June 20, 2025.
