In a recent interview, Aamir Khan, in the midst of promoting his new film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, openly discussed his personal life, notably his experiences with marriage and divorce. He quipped, “Shaadi mein main kamyab nahi hua hoon, lekin divorce mein main hua hoon” (I wasn’t successful in marriage, but I’ve been successful in divorce). He also touched upon the effect these life changes had on his family. “Humare parivar ke liye bhi ye ek cheez hain jisse hum khush nahi hain. Hum khushi-khushi ye cheez nahi kar rahe hain. Lekin kuch circumstances aise aayein jisme humein lagta hain ki shayad humara rishta badal gaya hain. Toh meri thinking ye hain ki yaa toh main duniya ko jhooth bol sakta hoon aur pretend kar sakta hoon ki Kiran [Rao] aur main bohot khush hain aur hum log shaadi-shuda hain (My family also has to face this, and it is not a happy scenario. Certain circumstances have made us rethink our relationship. So my thinking is I can either pretend that we are quite happy).” Khan divorced Kiran Rao in 2021 and they have a son, Azad Rao Khan. He was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. He recently introduced his current partner, Gauri Spratt, to the public. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ featuring Genelia Deshmukh, is scheduled to release on June 20 and is a spiritual successor to his earlier film ‘Taare Zameen Par’. The movie is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Champions’ (2018).
