Kavach 4.0 safety system rolls out across major corridors

The indigenous anti‑collision system known as Kavach has been upgraded to version 4.0 and commissioned on 2,633 route‑kilometres as of 31 July 2026. High‑density corridors such as Delhi‑Mumbai and Delhi‑Howrah now benefit from precise train localisation, fibre‑optic station‑to‑station links and direct integration with electronic interlocking. Kavach is operational on 21,794 km of track beside the lines, and over 6,300 locomotives have already been fitted with the system, with further installations for 7,190 locomotives and 1,200 EMUs underway.
