Four‑day slide in Motilal Oswal shares follows strong quarterly earnings

Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd continued its downtrend on Friday, registering a near‑11 percent fall that pushed the stock below Rs 900 for the first time this week. This marks the fourth straight session of losses, occurring just after the company announced impressive results for Q1 of FY 2026‑27.

The shares opened at Rs 944.50, gained slightly, but selling soon dominated, pulling the price down to a session low of Rs 839.90 on the NSE. By midday the quote was around Rs 859.20, an 8.62 percent decline, considerably weaker than the broader indices.

According to the latest regulatory filing, MOFSL posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,273.7 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, turning around from a loss of Rs 219 crore in the previous quarter. Annual net profit grew 10 percent, while operating revenue rose 25 percent year‑on‑year to Rs 3,425.7 crore.

The firm pointed to its asset‑management division, which recorded a record post‑tax profit of Rs 1,513 crore, driven by strong performance in its AMC and MO Alternates operations. Post‑tax profit from this segment surged 73 percent to Rs 245 crore, contributing 40 percent of total earnings. Assets under management expanded 31 percent to Rs 2.12 lakh crore, and private wealth revenue jumped 42 percent to Rs 157 crore.
