During a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru, a passenger experienced a flight like no other when they were stuck in the lavatory for the entirety of the journey. The airline has offered compensation and apologized, yet the event created a lot of online discussion.
The passenger was rescued once the flight landed in Bengaluru. Ground staff and engineers were able to open the faulty toilet door after the plane touched down.
This happened on a Monday night flight, which was delayed by two hours. It was supposed to leave at 10:55 PM but actually departed at 2:10 AM.
A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom soon after takeoff and became trapped because the door lock was broken. This triggered an unusual mid-air situation.
After trying to open the door in vain, the crew wrote a note and passed it to the trapped passenger, telling them to stay calm and remain on the toilet seat until the landing.
The crew’s note was widely shared on social media. Many people were entertained by the note. Others commented on the handwriting.
The plane landed in Bengaluru at about 3:45 AM. An airport engineer later opened the door.
The airline expressed its regrets and offered an apology to the affected passenger.
