TVS is set to broaden its electric scooter offerings with the introduction of a new EV, designed to sit below the iQube. The scooter, likely to be called the Orbiter, will be officially launched today, on August 28th, according to TVS’s own announcements. Unlike the iQube, this model represents a new design and aims to attract a wider customer base.
Details about the scooter’s specifications and features have been kept under wraps. However, it is reported that TVS is working on a simple, affordable electric scooter, powered by a hub-mounted motor to keep costs down.
The Orbiter is expected to be the entry-level model in TVS’s EV portfolio. While the name Orbiter is most likely, the company has also trademarked other potential names such as EV One and O.
Since the iQube already has multiple variants, it’s anticipated that the Orbiter will also be offered in different versions. The iQube currently ranges from ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh model to nearly ₹2 lakh for the top-spec 5.1 kWh version. The Orbiter, positioned below, is expected to have a smaller battery, simpler components, and fewer features, making it more budget-friendly.
With the increasing adoption of EVs due to government incentives, manufacturers like TVS are expanding their portfolios with models at different price points to appeal to a broader range of consumers.
