A passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru faced an embarrassing situation when they were locked in the aircraft’s lavatory for the entire duration of the flight. While the airline has issued apologies and offered compensation, the incident has captivated online audiences.
The passenger was eventually rescued after the plane landed in Bengaluru, with ground staff and engineers opening the malfunctioning door.
The incident occurred on a Monday night flight that was delayed by two hours, departing at 2:10 AM instead of its scheduled 10:55 PM. A passenger seated in seat 14D entered the restroom soon after takeoff, only to discover the door wouldn’t open because of a jammed lock, creating an issue mid-air.
The crew attempted to open the door, but were unsuccessful. They resorted to writing a note, which they slipped under the door, telling the passenger to stay put until landing in Bengaluru.
The note was widely shared on social media, drawing many amusing comments and praise for the handwriting. The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. The airline has expressed its regret and apologized to the passenger for the problem.
