Comprehensive crash tests were performed on the Suzuki Baleno to determine the safety levels of both the 2-airbag and the 6-airbag variants. These tests focused on the protection provided to adults and children during a crash scenario. The Baleno has gained popularity but also faced scrutiny regarding its crashworthiness, particularly in the base model. The 2-airbag version of the Baleno scored 24.04 out of 32 in the adult occupant safety assessment. The driver’s chest and thighs showed marginal protection, while leg protection was rated as adequate. Front passengers were adequately protected, with good protection for the head. The side moveable barrier test showed adequate protection for the head and neck but marginal protection for the chest. The side pole impact test indicated good passenger safety. The scores apply to various Baleno models. Child occupant safety scored 16.81 out of a maximum of 24. The 6-airbag version, achieved an adult occupant safety score of 26.52/32, earning four stars, and a child occupant protection score of 34.81/49, earning three stars. The 6-airbag version includes frontal, side head curtain, side chest, and side pelvis airbags. The vehicle also includes Isofix seats at the rear. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the 6-airbag variant scored 11.54 out of 16, with marginal protection for the driver’s chest and thighs. The side moveable deformable barrier test saw the vehicle score 14.99 out of 16. The child occupant safety score was 34.81/49.00. The same safety scores would be applicable for models such as Zeta 1.2L ISS 5MT, Alpha 1.2L ISS 5MT, Zeta 1.2L ISS AGS and Alpha 1.2L ISS AGS.
