Mahindra is developing a facelift for the three-door Mahindra Thar. Having been on sale for five years, the Thar has become a favorite for off-road enthusiasts. The vehicle’s design is being updated, as evidenced by a test mule spotted with a new front fascia. The new model is expected to borrow features from the Thar Roxx, aiming to keep both offerings fresh in the market. Mahindra’s plans include a series of launches, with the updated Bolero also under testing, suggesting that the refreshed Thar could be unveiled around the festive season.
The interior might retain the same steering wheel design, and the instrument panel might feature the 10.2-inch TFT screen seen on the Thar Roxx. The test vehicle did not have a sunroof. The production model could include contemporary features like ADAS and ventilated seats. The test mule, lacking a 4×4 transfer case gear selector, was likely a RWD model.
Exterior changes will include a redesigned front fascia with a revised grille, headlights, tail lamps, and tweaked fenders to align the design with the Thar Roxx. Engine options could encompass a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, a 1.5-liter diesel, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. Transmission choices are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
