Kia is set to launch the Kia Carens EV, marking its entry into the MPV EV segment. The teaser campaign highlights an expected range of around 490 KM. The full details of the new EV MPV are anticipated to be released shortly. While Kia has been secretive about the technical specifications, some leaks have revealed key aspects of the car’s performance. The Kia Clavis EV is scheduled to be revealed on July 5, with the teasers emphasizing a fusion of practicality and advanced features in this MPV-SUV crossover. The teasers and promotional videos indicate a strong emphasis on safety and technology. A Level 2 ADAS Suite, comprising approximately 20 autonomous functions, will be included. Standard safety features include six airbags, ESC, Hill start assist, Down Hill Brake control, and all-wheel disc brakes. Interior shots suggest that the EV variant will be based on the higher-end Clavis model, featuring premium cream leatherette upholstery, a floating dash, and a distinctive headrest design. The Carens EV is expected to be equipped with a powertrain similar to that of the Creta EV, providing two battery options – a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack. The output of the higher variant could be about 171 PS. Fast charging will allow for a 10-80% charge within an hour using a 50 KW DC charger. The Carens Clavis may feature an upgraded battery to achieve a longer range compared to the Creta EV.
