A specially modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, prepared by Mid Life Cycles, has demonstrated extraordinary performance, reaching a top speed that exceeds 212.51 km/h. This achievement was the result of converting a standard Interceptor into a high-speed drag racer designed for competitive events. The bike broke the existing four-year-old class record, reaching 132.050 MPH (212.514 km/h). Charlie Hallam, the rider, showcased the bike’s capabilities from the beginning, achieving high speeds on his initial runs.
The modifications implemented on the Interceptor were extensive. These included the use of a balanced crankshaft and lighter, polished rods, modifications to the gearbox to minimize friction, and an increased compression ratio requiring high-octane fuel. The engine’s combustion chamber, ports and valves were also upgraded, along with the addition of a competition camshaft. Additional changes included a lengthened swingarm, Ohlins suspension, lightweight alloy wheels, bespoke sprockets, and clip-on handlebars.
