Shah Rukh Khan, the iconic ‘King Khan’ of Bollywood, is making waves. He has recently received his first National Film Award, a landmark achievement in his 33-year acting career. Shah Rukh is also recognized as one of the wealthiest actors in Bollywood, with an estimated net worth of 7500 crore rupees, exceeding that of his contemporaries, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Known for his love of luxury cars, Shah Rukh’s current collection includes many high-end vehicles, valued at over 30 crore rupees. Surprisingly, the first car owned by the actor was a far cry from the extravagant vehicles he now possesses.
Media reports indicate that Shah Rukh Khan’s first car was a Maruti Omni, the original generation model. The Maruti Omni, also referred to as the Maruti Van, was a microvan manufactured by Maruti Suzuki. It was originally launched as the Maruti Van in 1984, and later rebranded as the Omni in 1988.
Key Features of the Maruti Omni
The Omni was powered by a 796cc engine derived from the Maruti 800. The car was popular in India, especially for carrying goods and as ambulances. However, its production was discontinued in 2019 due to safety regulations. The Omni’s design placed the engine in the middle at the front. Additionally, its rear-wheel-drive system maximized cabin and storage space while offering superior road grip.
