In August 2025, the SUV market remained competitive. Hyundai Creta led sales, with 15,924 units sold. This was a 5% decrease from the 16,762 units sold in the previous year, however it is still the leading model in its segment.
The Tata Nexon recorded a strong performance, selling 14,004 units, a 14% increase from 12,280 units in August 2024, highlighting its continued popularity. However, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw a sales decline of 29%, with sales dropping from 19,190 units last year to 13,620 units. Maruti Suzuki Fronx showed stability with 12,422 units sold, near the 12,387 units from the previous year. The Mahindra Scorpio saw a 29% drop to 9,840 units compared to 13,787 a year ago. Tata Punch’s sales fell by 32%, selling 10,704 units compared to the 15,643 units of the previous year, facing competition.
Toyota’s hybrid vehicles had a surge in sales, increasing by 39% to 9,100 units from 6,534 the previous year. This growth indicates Toyota’s rising presence in the hybrid market. Hyundai Venue sold 8,109 units, which is an 11% drop from 9,085 units the previous year. Kia Sonet sold 7,741 units, which is a 23% drop from 10,073 units.
The Mahindra Thar’s popularity is on the rise, with 6,997 units sold this August, a 64% increase compared to 4,268 units last year.
