A SpiceJet passenger faced an embarrassing situation on a flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru. The passenger was stuck in the lavatory for the entire journey. The airline has since apologized and reportedly offered a refund.
The trapped passenger was finally ‘freed’ once the plane landed at Bengaluru airport. The ground crew and engineers took immediate action to open the toilet door after it malfunctioned and locked mid-flight.
The event happened on a Monday night flight, which was delayed by two hours, taking off at 2:10 AM. The passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. However, they were unable to exit due to a jammed door lock, leading to an unusual mid-air problem.
Amidst the passenger’s struggle, the crew attempted to assist, with no success. The crew then took a different approach, slipping a handwritten note through the gap in the door. The note requested the passenger to ‘not panic and stay seated on the toilet seat’ until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
The message became a viral sensation, causing amusement across social media. The plane landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and the door was opened by airport engineers. SpiceJet has expressed regret and apologized to the passenger for the mishap.
