Ahead of the season, CSK anointed Jadeja as MS Dhoni’s successor, first by retaining him for Rs 16 crore, vis-à-vis Dhoni’s Rs 12 crore, after which by making him the captain a few days earlier than the beginning of the match. The thought was that the ex-skipper would mother-hen his successor, permitting him to develop into the job. Jadeja has been reverential in the direction of Dhoni and he didn’t hesitate to lean closely on the previous captain for on-field selections.
