Sharif Osman Hadi, Convenor of Inqilab Moncho, was tragically killed in Dhaka, prompting his family to demand justice and accuse the interim government of election sabotage. His brother, Sharif Omar Hadi, has specifically targeted the Mohammad Yunus-led administration, holding them responsible for the murder. Following the incident, Inqilab Moncho issued a 24-hour ultimatum, demanding that those responsible be brought to justice before the country’s national election and referendum. Omar Hadi stated unequivocally that the interim government is liable for his brother’s death and will eventually face trial for failing in its duty to protect him. He further alleged that authorities are trying to leverage Hadi’s assassination to ‘sabotage’ the election, a scheme he vowed would fail. The brother emphasized that Hadi’s strong stance in favor of holding elections in February and his active preparations made him a target of this political conspiracy. Undeterred, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has reaffirmed the commitment to holding the general elections on February 12. The Law Adviser has announced that the Osman Hadi murder case will be fast-tracked by the Speedy Trial Tribunal, aiming for resolution within 90 days of the police submitting their investigation report, as stipulated by law.
