A circulating CCTV video from the Jharkhand Assembly, reportedly showing a Congress leader and Babulal Marandi, has been met with accusations and a strong rebuttal. The footage, captured on December 10, 2025, near 11 AM, depicts the leaders at a well-trafficked gate of the assembly complex. The Congress leader has strongly condemned the media’s attempt to create a ‘false and misleading narrative’ based on this clip.
The leader expressed deep disappointment over the deliberate distortion of facts and the damage to their reputation. They emphasized that the video was recorded in a public area of the assembly, a place with constant movement of legislators, media personnel, and administrative staff. The location is described as a common entry and exit point for most MLAs.
Denying any exchange of a pen drive, the leader explained that the conversation with Marandi was initiated due to a news report published in a newspaper. The leader had intended to address this report in the assembly, but Marandi had already done so. The encounter was coincidental, occurring as the leader was leaving the assembly premises.
The leader questioned the logic of attempting any clandestine operation in such an open and surveilled environment. With a mobile phone, newspaper, and handkerchief in hand, the leader’s hands were demonstrably occupied, rendering the alleged handover impossible. They encouraged the public to view the footage discerningly, differentiating between a discussion and a transaction.
The leader perceives this event as a calculated move by a ‘special lobby’ that has been targeting them since they joined Congress. This group is accused of previous attempts to fracture the party and thwart legislative mergers. Despite these challenges, the leader remains resolute in their dedication to representing the public’s voice and addressing issues of public welfare.
