The Union Home Ministry has officially announced the promotion of five senior Jharkhand Police Service (JPS) officers to the elite Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. Furthermore, three other eligible officers have been placed on a provisional promotion list, subject to the resolution of specific conditions. The decision was formalized after a crucial UPSC meeting held on December 8, 2025, a landmark event for the state’s police leadership.
A pivotal UPSC meeting on November 10, 2025, focused on filling the IPS vacancies for Jharkhand from the 2022 and 2023 cycles. The discussions involved key personnel from the Home Ministry and Jharkhand’s government. After a comprehensive review process lasting approximately one month, the UPSC granted final approval for eight officers. Five have been directly elevated to the IPS, while three are provisionally listed pending the fulfillment of specific requirements.
The five officers confirmed for IPS promotion are Deepak Kumar, Manzarul Hoda, Rajesh Kumar, Raushan Gudiya, and Shriram Samad. Their ascent to the IPS cadre signifies a recognition of their consistent performance and commitment to public service.
