The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully conducted its Eastern Region Convocation in Ranchi on December 7, 2025, at the Gangotri Convention Centre. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, as the chief guest. The ceremony officially welcomed 102 new members from the Eastern Region into the professional ranks of ICSI.
Minister Seth extended his congratulations to the newly inducted members, stating that their role in ensuring sound governance and compliance is more critical than ever, given the rapid expansion of India’s startup sector. He underscored their vital contribution towards India’s ambition to become a developed nation by 2047.
In his address, ICSI President, CS Dhananjay Shukla, spoke about the institute’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance standards through its innovative programs. He expressed confidence that these advancements would prepare the new members to play a significant role in the nation’s economic progress as they commence their professional journeys.
President Shukla also provided comprehensive details on ICSI’s fee concession schemes. These are designed to benefit members of the Indian Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Agniveers, families of martyrs, children of armed forces personnel, and students from the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
He also introduced several new strategic initiatives aimed at broadening professional expertise. These include a dual-degree MBA program with Gujarat Maritime University in Maritime Regulation & Compliance Management, and a collaborative certificate course with NISM focusing on Corporate & Securities Market Compliance.
Further initiatives presented were a specialized certificate course on UAE Business Management, ICSI Guiding Principles on Stewardship (IGPS) for promoting responsible investment, Principles on Climate Change Governance (IPCG) to guide climate action, and an ESG Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit to support effective corporate sustainability strategies.
