A sophisticated terror plot behind the Delhi Chandni Chowk car blast has been revealed, centering on a mobile bomb-making factory allegedly operated by Dr. Umar Un Nabi. This educated professional reportedly carried a suitcase containing the components and chemicals to assemble deadly explosive devices, enabling him to operate a portable death factory wherever he traveled.
The discovery of this specialized suitcase, packed with materials for creating improvised explosive devices (IEDs), confirms that security agencies were confronting a terrorist with advanced scientific knowledge and a method for rapid deployment. This sophisticated approach has raised significant concerns about the evolving nature of terror threats.
Information emerging from interrogations points to Dr. Nabi conducting clandestine chemical experiments within his university room. While other medical students focused on learning to save lives, Nabi allegedly honed his skills in chemical mixtures for destructive purposes. He was designated the ‘Ameer’ of the terror cell, reportedly brought into the fold by an associate of Jaish-e-Mohammed, and commanded considerable influence due to his expertise.
The explosive device used in the Chandni Chowk blast is believed to have been a partially completed IED. Nabi’s method involved using common household chemicals like acetone and sugar, demonstrating a dangerous aptitude for weaponizing everyday items through scientific precision. The initial plan was reportedly to transport explosives to Jammu and Kashmir for a significant attack, but this was altered, leading to the local manufacture of IEDs using urea.
Dr. Nabi’s background, characterized by multilingualism and a strong grasp of chemistry, highlights the emergence of ‘educated terrorists.’ He reportedly cited religious motivations for his actions. This case underscores the alarming reality that advanced intellect and professional credentials can be tragically misused, with the most dangerous threats sometimes concealed within seemingly ordinary possessions, like a suitcase laden with the means of destruction.
