A coordinated suicide and gun attack on the Frontier Constabulary’s central headquarters in Peshawar resulted in the deaths of at least three people on Monday. The targeted complex, located in a densely populated vicinity close to a military cantonment, experienced a devastating assault initiated by multiple gunmen and two suicide bombers. Eyewitness accounts suggest one bomber detonated explosives at the primary entrance, while the second succeeded in penetrating the compound. Law enforcement and army units have fully secured the perimeter and are engaged in a cautious ongoing operation, with concerns that other assailants may still be inside the facility. The Federal Constabulary, which underwent a name change recently, is grappling with a significant escalation in militant attacks across Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. This heightened aggression coincides with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s resumption of hostilities against security forces after abandoning a ceasefire in late 2022.
