Authorities in the Aazadnagar police station jurisdiction of East Singhbhum have successfully debunked a supposed theft, exposing the complainant as the alleged thief. The incident, reported from a house on Bagan Shahi Road No. 7, was meticulously investigated, with police cracking the case within a single day.
Wakar Ahmed, who had approached the police with a complaint of stolen gold jewelry, has been arrested after the investigation revealed his direct involvement. The recovered gold items are estimated to be worth approximately ₹1.50 lakh.
Following the initial report, a special team was constituted under the guidance of the City SP and led by Patamda DSP Bachan Dev Kujur. During the interrogation process, inconsistencies in Wakar Ahmed’s narrative quickly became apparent. Faced with pointed questioning, Ahmed admitted to orchestrating the entire event. He confessed that due to severe family financial pressures, he removed the gold ornaments from an almirah on the night of the 22nd and staged a theft. His intention was to file a police report and potentially receive some form of financial aid. The police have recovered a gold chain, four earrings, and a ring from the accused.
