For the eleventh year running, London has been declared the world’s best city in the latest 2025-26 global rankings. New York follows as the second most desirable city, with Paris securing the third spot. The comprehensive report, a joint effort by Resonance Consultancy and Ipsos, evaluates cities based on prosperity, how well they are loved by residents and visitors, and their overall liveability.
London’s enduring success is deeply rooted in its strong performance across these foundational pillars, especially its high rankings in lovability and liveability, reinforcing its position as a top-tier global city for inhabitants and tourists alike.
The top ten cities are London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, Singapore, Rome, Dubai, Berlin, and Barcelona. From Asia, Tokyo is ranked fourth, and Singapore is sixth.
India’s prominent city, Bangalore, has earned an impressive 29th position globally, marking it as India’s leading city in the rankings. Recognized as the “Silicon Valley of India,” Bangalore’s high placement signifies its growing global impact. Other Indian cities in the list include Mumbai at 40th, Delhi at 54th, and Hyderabad at 82nd.
This extensive global assessment included over 270 cities with populations exceeding one million. The evaluation considered critical aspects such as educational facilities, cultural vibrancy, transportation networks, nightlife, safety, sanitation, and healthcare access. The ‘Place Power Score,’ a composite of liveability, lovability, and prosperity, confirms London’s continued global leadership and highlights Bangalore’s strong performance as India’s premier global urban center.
