A significant propaganda failure has unfolded for Pakistan, with the French Navy stepping in to expose false claims made by Pakistani media regarding Operation Sindoor. Geo TV, a Pakistani news outlet, has been officially called out for disseminating ‘misinformation and disinformation,’ including fabricated quotes and baseless allegations about Indian Rafale jets being shot down.
The Pakistani report detailed sensational claims, attributing quotes to a senior French naval officer and asserting that Indian Rafale jets were downed. These narratives were presented to falsely portray a Pakistani victory during a period of military tension. However, France’s direct and public refutation has invalidated these manufactured stories.
Adding to the fabrications, the Pakistani media outlet not only invented quotes but also incorrectly identified the French officer. Geo TV referred to Captain Yvan Launay as ‘Jacques Launay,’ demonstrating a fundamental lack of factual accuracy in their reporting.
In a pointed statement, the French Navy confirmed that Captain Launay had not authorized any quotes for publication and labeled the article as containing ‘extensive misinformation and disinformation.’ This decisive action by the French Navy has thoroughly discredited Pakistan’s attempt to manipulate public perception and rewrite the facts of the operation, leaving Islamabad’s propaganda machine exposed globally.
