Tension grips Kundri village in Palamu after the body of an eight-year-old boy, Vivek Kumar Verma, was recovered from a village well. The child had been reported missing for two days, and his family is now alleging murder, leading to a stand-off with the police. Authorities are currently treating the incident as an accident, pending the results of a post-mortem examination, but villagers are demanding a thorough investigation into what they believe was a planned killing. The boy’s body was found floating in the well by local residents early Wednesday morning. On receiving information, the Lesliganj police arrived at the scene. However, the villagers obstructed the body’s removal, insisting on a high-level inquiry. They have made it clear that no further action, including the post-mortem, will be permitted until their demands for a comprehensive investigation into a suspected murder are met. Police officials are engaged in efforts to de-escalate the situation and encourage cooperation with the investigation. The station house officer suggested that the child might have accidentally fallen into the well, possibly losing his footing near the well edge while chasing a kite, which was found at the scene.
