The East Singhbhum district’s Ghatsila Assembly constituency by-election results are shaping up, with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Somesh Chandra Soren establishing a significant and likely insurmountable lead. Following the conclusion of the 17th round of counting, Soren has accumulated 89,251 votes, placing him well ahead of his closest rival, BJP’s Babulal Soren. This strong performance points towards a JMM win, fueling excitement among party faithful. Babulal Soren has garnered 56,445 votes to date. Ramdas Murmu of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha is in third place, having received 11,235 votes. The election has highlighted the struggles of smaller parties and independent candidates, with many receiving negligible votes. For context, independent hopefuls like Dr. Shrilal Kisku received 1,341 votes, and the Bharat Adivasi Party’s Panchanan Soren garnered 901. The ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option also drew a notable 2,458 votes, exceeding the tally of several participating candidates.
