Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district witnessed a major anti-Naxal operation today, resulting in the elimination of six Maoists in a gun battle. The incident occurred near the Indravati National Park at approximately 10 AM when a combined force of security personnel, acting on specific intelligence about senior Maoist operatives, launched an operation. Police have confirmed the casualties.
The security forces involved in the operation were drawn from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) units of Bijapur and Dantewada, supported by the Special Task Force (STF). The intense exchange of gunfire lasted for several hours. A subsequent search of the encounter zone revealed the lifeless bodies of six Naxalites, who were equipped with sophisticated automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, and a .303 rifle, along with explosives.
To ensure the area was secured and to capture any fleeing insurgents, further teams comprising the DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and CAF were rapidly deployed. This successful operation is being celebrated as a significant blow against Naxalite activities and a testament to the resolve of the security forces in their mission to dismantle Maoist networks in the state.
