Chhattisgarh’s security forces have achieved a major victory, eliminating six Naxalites in a robust anti-insurgency operation in the Bijapur district. The intense exchange of fire occurred in the Indravati National Park area when a joint force, including members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), acting on vital intelligence, confronted a group of Maoist cadres. The gun battle raged for several hours, culminating in the neutralization of the six insurgents. Their bodies were recovered along with a significant haul of automatic weapons, such as an INSAS rifle and sten guns, as well as a .303 rifle and explosives. The state’s Chief Minister commended the security forces for their gallantry and efficiency, viewing the operation as another critical step towards achieving a Naxalism-free Chhattisgarh. This success aligns with the national objective to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026. In a related development, security forces also apprehended an injured Naxalite in the Tarlaguda region, who is now under medical supervision. The cumulative number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has now reached 259, reflecting the intensified and successful counter-terrorism efforts.
