Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed that star pacer Blessing Muzarabani will miss the upcoming T20I tri-series in Pakistan due to a back injury. The team will now look to Newman Nyamhuri to step into the squad.
The series, featuring hosts Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, is scheduled to kick off on November 17 and will conclude with the final on November 29 in Lahore. Muzarabani’s inability to participate is a major blow to Zimbabwe’s chances in the tournament.
Newman Nyamhuri, a young talent, has been added to the roster. He has yet to earn a T20I cap but has represented Zimbabwe in four Test matches and four ODIs, taking a combined nine wickets at the international level. Domestically, he has played four T20s, bagging five wickets with an economy of 7.
This squad change is the only one following Zimbabwe’s recent 0-3 T20I series defeat to Afghanistan. Muzarabani was part of the first T20I against Afghanistan, taking two wickets, but his injury prevented him from continuing in that series and now rules him out of the tri-series.
