Following a significant car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, the city’s traffic system has been severely impacted. The Delhi Traffic Police have released a detailed advisory, urging commuters to modify their travel plans due to immediate road restrictions.
Key sections of Netaji Subhash Marg, specifically between Chatta Rail Cut and Subhash Marg Cut, are subject to traffic restrictions on all lanes. Commuters are strongly encouraged to avoid this route from 6:00 AM onwards and opt for alternative paths to bypass the affected area. This measure is in place to support the ongoing investigation and site clearing operations, where police and forensic experts are meticulously gathering evidence, including vehicle parts like the steering wheel, from the blast site.
Intelligence indicates that the primary suspect is Dr. Mohammad Umar, an individual with suspected ties to the Faridabad terror network and a history of evading law enforcement. It is believed that Umar, along with two others, carried out the attack amid increased pressure from recent arrests. The explosion utilized a potent ANFO charge. CCTV analysis shows the Hyundai i20 involved in the incident was parked for around three hours near the Sunehri Masjid before detonating at a busy intersection on Subhash Marg.
