Ten people have been hospitalized, nine with life-threatening injuries, following a horrific mass stabbing incident on a train in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening. British Transport Police confirmed that the attack took place on a service heading towards London King’s Cross. The train was brought to a stop at Huntingdon station, where a large contingent of officers and paramedics responded.
This serious incident has prompted the declaration of a major incident, with Counter Terrorism Policing now providing support to the ongoing investigation. Two individuals have been detained by law enforcement. The BTP has acknowledged the deeply disturbing nature of the event and is urging the public to allow the investigation to unfold thoroughly before drawing conclusions.
As police continue their work, train services in the region are suspended, and various road closures are in effect. The gravity of the situation has been recognized by the highest levels of government, with the Prime Minister condemning the “appalling” attack and the Home Secretary being kept informed. Authorities are asking the public to stay clear of the affected area and to refer only to official updates.
