A substantial set of promises has been put forth by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in its Bihar manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra,’ with a strong emphasis on job creation and socio-economic development. The alliance has pledged to create more than one crore government jobs, directly addressing the unemployment concerns of Bihar’s youth. Financial support for the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) is a key component, promising Rs 10 lakh in aid and the formation of a judicial commission dedicated to their welfare.
The manifesto’s economic strategy includes establishing 10 new industrial parks and ensuring factories are set up in every district to decentralize job creation. The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ program targets the financial empowerment of one crore women. For farmers, the annual Kisan Samman Nidhi will be raised to Rs 9,000, and a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops is assured.
Major infrastructure projects are outlined, focusing on upgrading airports in Patna, Darbhanga, Purnia, and Bhagalpur to international status. The vision for urban mobility includes metro rail projects for Patna, Gaya, Purnia, and Bhagalpur. Educational advancements are planned through residential schools for SC/ST students, stipends for higher education, enhanced meal provisions, and the establishment of a medical college in every district. The social welfare agenda features Rs 10 lakh aid for SC/EBC communities, the building of 50 lakh new houses, subsidized electricity, and expanded social security pension schemes.
