A significant breakthrough has been made in the tragic case of a Maharashtra doctor’s alleged suicide, with the arrest of suspended Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne. Badne presented himself to Satara police on Sunday and was taken into custody, confirming the second arrest in this deeply concerning incident.
The woman doctor, who died by suicide on Friday, left behind a disturbing testament to her suffering. Her suicide note, written on her hand, named Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne and two others, alleging that she had been raped four times by Badne and subjected to relentless abuse for over five months. Prashant Bankar, the landlord’s son, has also been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reiterated the government’s commitment to a swift and impartial investigation, promising strict consequences for anyone found complicit. “This is a very serious issue. A young doctor wrote her suicide note on her hand before committing suicide. It is very unfortunate, and the government, immediately taking action, has suspended the concerned police officials, and arrests are also being made,” he stated.
Speaking out, the victim’s family has appealed for the harshest possible punishment for those implicated in her death. They revealed that the doctor had been under immense pressure, reportedly from police and politicians, to manipulate post-mortem findings. The family is determined to see justice served.
