A sharp critique from a prominent Bengaluru businesswoman has put IndiGo’s premium in-flight dining under scrutiny. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw publicly denounced the airline’s ‘gourmet’ meal for IndiGoStretch customers as “tasteless” and “uninviting,” urging a fundamental review of the menu.
Via a social media post featuring a photo of the meal, Mazumdar-Shaw directed her feedback to IndiGo and its caterer, stating, “Oberoi should rethink this uninviting and tasteless menu – pls do a customer survey n I bet you there will be a 100%” agreement on its inadequacy. She indicated a preference for simpler, more conventional options over the described ‘German lentil and feta salad’ and elaborate desserts.
The entrepreneur’s comments have amplified customer dissatisfaction with airline food quality. Other passengers joined the online discussion, sharing similar negative experiences and agreeing that ‘gourmet’ promises often fall short. The consensus among commenters was a strong call for airlines to actively seek and act upon passenger feedback to elevate their in-flight culinary offerings, moving beyond elaborate menu descriptions to genuinely satisfying food.
