On Saturday, Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai participated in various Jayaprakash Narayan Jayanti celebrations across the city. His itinerary included a visit to JP School in Sankosai, Mango, an event organized by the All India Kayastha Mahasabha in Mango, and a program hosted by Janata Dal (United).
Addressing the gathering at the Janata Dal (United) event as the chief guest, Rai spoke about the pivotal role of the 1974 JP movement. He described a challenging era in India where corruption and authoritarian tendencies were prevalent, and dissent was muted. Rai credited Jayaprakash Narayan with galvanizing the youth and spearheading the ‘Sampurna Kranti’ (Total Revolution). He stated that Narayan’s powerful leadership compelled the government to respond. Rai emphasized that beyond igniting a new political consciousness, the JP movement was the genesis of political careers for many senior leaders who are active today. He also shared personal anecdotes of his involvement in the movement, focusing on his efforts to provide direction to the youthful energy.
The event, attended by numerous senior Janata Dal (United) leaders, workers, and social activists, concluded with a powerful affirmation of the ‘Sampurna Kranti’ call. Attendees recommitted to embodying JP’s ideals and pursuing a path of social justice and ethical governance.
