The recently released Netflix series, ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood,’ directed by Aryan Khan, is creating a significant stir, partly due to an actor whose appearance has drawn comparisons to former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede. The show, which delves into the intricacies of Bollywood, has become a subject of intense debate and legal action. Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation lawsuit against Shah Rukh Khan, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Netflix, alleging reputational damage by the series. The Delhi High Court has consequently issued notices to the involved parties. Simultaneously, the actor portraying the NCG officer in the series is garnering considerable online attention for his resemblance to Wankhede. Ashish Kumar, the actor in question, has experienced a rapid increase in his Instagram followers. He recently posted a video featuring his character’s line, ‘I am part of war against drugs,’ from the show. Responding to fan appreciation, Kumar adopted a modest stance, saying, ‘I just did my job.’ The series hasn’t officially confirmed any inspiration, but the audience has overwhelmingly made the connection. A viral scene showcases an officer, whose hairstyle and overall look are highly reminiscent of Wankhede, arriving to investigate a party for drug-related offenses. Phrases uttered by the character, including ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and declarations like ‘Drugs have ruined this country,’ are widely interpreted as deliberate nods to Sameer Wankhede’s public pronouncements and controversial career.
