The Election Commission of India (ECI) provided an update on the preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections during a press conference. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced that elections are expected to take place before the state assembly dissolves on November 22, 2025. The ECI is committed to ensuring transparency through 100% webcasting. Voter list cleansing efforts were praised, with recognition for the booth-level officers. Each polling station will have around 1,200 voters to facilitate smooth voting. Aadhaar cards will be accepted for voter list inclusion, while clarifying that it is not a form of citizenship. To improve voter awareness, candidates’ photos on election documents will appear in color. Postal ballots will be counted before the final two rounds of EVM counting. Digital index cards will be available shortly after the election concludes. Booth-level officials will receive identity cards. Mobile phones can be deposited outside polling booths. Ballot papers will feature larger serial numbers and color photographs of candidates. The CEC encouraged voters to participate enthusiastically in the elections, viewing them as a festival of democracy.
