The city of Ranchi is witnessing a surge in criminal activity, with prominent figures like BJP leader Ramesh Singh targeted for extortion and threats. The Rahul Singh gang contacted Singh via WhatsApp, demanding money and issuing a death threat. The gang members made it clear that they were aware of Singh’s financial standing and his business operations. Singh was explicitly warned that failure to pay the demanded sum would lead to serious consequences. This is not the first time Singh has been threatened; earlier, he was targeted by Naxal elements from the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI). The initial complaint was filed at the Sukhdev Nagar police station, but the investigation was still underway when the recent threat occurred. Ramesh Singh (49), a resident of Ratu Road, is known for his community work and participation in religious activities. He recently organized an extensive Durga Puja celebration at Albert Ekka Chowk, which cost over 60 lakh rupees and featured Bhojpuri artists. The latest threat was delivered during the Durga Puja idol immersion, and the police have begun an investigation into the case.
