Skoda India is set to introduce the Octavia RS sedan to the Indian market, with the official launch date slated for October 17th. Customers can place their bookings starting October 6th. The car has been spotted repeatedly, undergoing testing without camouflage, providing a detailed look at its design. These sightings, including those from a TV shoot, have revealed the car’s styling.
The Octavia RS features a sporty design, highlighted by LED matrix headlights and DRLs. It also has 18-inch alloy wheels and striking body contours. Inside, there are sports seats, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a range of other features.
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine that delivers 216 hp and a peak torque of 370 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission. The Indian version, based on the UK specification, will not have Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC).
Performance figures indicate the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. The RS variant rides 15mm lower than the standard model. To boost its sporty appearance, the Czech brand has included an exhaust system that differs from the standard model.
Due to its CBU status, the Skoda Octavia RS is anticipated to be priced around ₹50 lakh at launch. At this price, it will be positioned to compete directly with the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
