Following his contribution to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) maiden IPL trophy win after 18 years, Patidar captained the Central Zone team to victory in the Duleep Trophy 2025 final. He is now appointed to lead the Madhya Pradesh Ranji team.
Rajat Patidar Takes on a Major Captaincy Role
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has declared Rajat Patidar as the captain for the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. He will be taking over from Shubham Sharma in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. Madhya Pradesh won their first Ranji title in 2022, and now, under Patidar’s captaincy, the team aims to repeat that success. Currently, he is leading the Rest of India in the Irani Cup, where they are playing against Ranji champions Vidarbha.
The 15-member Madhya Pradesh squad includes strong batting options such as Yash Dubey, Harsh Gawli, and Shubham Sharma. The bowling department features pace bowlers Kuldeep Sen and Aryan Pandey, along with spinners Kumar Kartikeya and Saransh Jain, providing a well-rounded attack. The team also includes Himanshu Mantri, Harpreet Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Sagar Solanki, Adheer Pratap, Arshad Khan, and Anubhav Agrawal. The Ranji Trophy 2025-26 will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be from October 15 to November 19, while the second phase will be from January 22 to February 1. The knockout stage will be held from February 6 to February 28.
