A tragic incident in Araria has led to a police investigation following the suspicious death of Sapna Kumari, a woman married just five months prior. Her body was found hanging from a fan at her in-laws’ house in Ward 13 of Bangama Panchayat, and was immediately taken to Bhabua Sadar Hospital. Sapna, a resident of Radhanagar, Kasba police station area, Purnia district, and daughter of Mantu Mahto, was married to Sonu Kumar. Her family has asserted that Sapna was murdered by strangulation. The family also alleges that the in-laws had been pressuring Sapna for a dowry that included money and a motorcycle. Although the in-laws initially remained silent, the family believes the demands for dowry that were not met led to this tragic incident. The police have taken Sapna’s husband, his mother, and other relatives into custody for questioning. SDPO Sushil Kumar confirmed that a murder FIR has been registered and a post-mortem examination has been completed. Police are actively investigating the matter, with a commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
